BUD PERRY UPSETS STELLAR FIELD FOR SIGNATURE WIN AT SUMMER SIZZLER

Bud Perry started the evening frustrated after qualifying 23rd out of the 30 stars that took a time. Perry would then squeeze into the main by taking 3rd in the last chance race. After starting the tail, and possibly having the best seat in the house for several laps, he worked his way up to 3rd. It was then on a lap 83 restart, the 2 leaders that had lad all the previous laps, Donny Klotz and Andy Bozell got into each other going into turn one resulting in a caution. Perry would restart in P1 and hold on to lead the remaining 17 laps to take home $11,000 and add his name to the elite list of Summer Sizzler winners.

Tyler Roahrig, who had won 4 of the past 5 Summer Sizzlers qualified fast time and worked his way up to 6th halfway through the race before he got into some trouble and eventually called it a night on lap 83.

New Paris Speedway defending track champion, Austin Maynard, was piloting the Bobby Blount machine and ended up finishing 7th after fighting his way back from the tail in result of a caution on lap 45.

Earlier in the evening, the Modifieds competed for the first time ever at the Summer Sizzler, with Brad Springer taking the checkered in the 50 lap feature. Steve Minich Jr. won the $500 qualifying bonus for setting fast time.

The 16th Annual Summer Sizzler took 3 days and many rain delays to complete, but it will be one that will not be forgotten by many.
